I am assuming you have a stripped thread and nothing else.  I had a stripped
spark plug thread fixed in my old Beetle by a VW shop for $35.  They put in
a Heli Coil without removing the head and I've head no problems.  I am sure
same can be done in the WBX or Type IV engine.
