One of my pet peeves is a dirty windshield.  I soak it down with an
ammonia-based window cleaner and srub in circular motion with a VERY fine
steel wool pad.  This removes all bug guts and other crud.  I then follow up
with regular paper towels.  After the windshield is clean I apply Rain-X
liberally.  To get the haze off the windshield after Rain-X has been applied
and dried, I simply wipe it with a soaking wet paper towel and dry it.
