A co-worker just bought a regular US spec '90 Westfalia which has every option imaginable, including ABS. Seen it with my own eyes! And for those of you who question the usefulness of ABS, Ben, don't cast stones until you've tried it in the snow - it's great! >> Doug, I have indeed tried ABS on snow. Gravel as well. Many of my personal vehicles are so equipped. Doesn't do so well in gravel. I was simply making a point that it was really not that critical to worry about ABS is US Vanagons since they were not made readily available here anyway. Why exasperate yourself about a decision that VW management made decades ago? As for your friend's Westy w/ ABS, have you considered the possibility that was not a true US spec vehicle? I have a couple of Euro spec vehicles which appear US spec which actualy never has been. BenT |
