Start by removing the interior panel and insulation, and look at what moves when you turn the key in the rear hatch lock. Try cleaning and lubricating that shaft, and that will likely cure the problem. If not, I'd then take out the servo and disassemble it and look for burning, broken teeth, etc. bmc :) "Faith will move mountains, but you'd better bring a shovel...."
