Terry:
I was not specifically advocating such a change. Merely throwing the topic
out for discussion. There is a precedent for such a change, (actually
several - SubaruVanagon and Syncro lists, as well as the SyncroSafari list).
I don't know if you ever lurk on the SubaruVanagon list, but I will
guarantee you that because they have their own list, they have the freedom
to really get into some arcane stuff that I will assure you would bore the
rest of us non-subie owners to tears. Do you care whether a 1996 Legacy
engine is OBD I or OBD II, or what kind of diagnostic tool will give you the
correct fault code readings? I would imagine not. ;-)
As I mentioned in my previous post, it boils down to two things - freedom of
choice, and freedom of expression. Choice of whether or not to be exposed
to such discussions, and the freedom to dive into the most esoteric level of
detail without fear of "bothering" others on the list. This is what is
great about the Syncro list - we can prattle on and on about viscous
coupling fluid, and assume that pretty much everyone on the list is at least
peripherally interested. ;-)
Cheers,
Brent Christensen
