I am told that in parts of Hawaii if a vehicle is left unattended for long it will be stripped. I am also told by Wayne Schuster who used to live in Mexico that it is common for parts to disappear so he intends to carry extra lug bolts and so on. It depends where you camp or live and even then it seems to happen. I live in S. California 20 miles N. of San Diego. One day (years ago) my roommate went out to find his car up on Jacks ( a popular older Toyota I think), wheels gone, bumper ends gone and two of the rear windows also taken. The police said it was the "Beyond midnight free auto store" scenario. Apparently it is not that unusual anywhere. William aka Guillermo-de-San-Diego 1989 Vanagon GL Camper |
