There is no connection.

www.tiico.com is simply the URL for "tii Trading Company". This is the name of Peter Broemmelsiek's company that imports the South African 2.0L engine conversion kit for the Vanagon.

And why is it called "tii Trading Company"?

Peter has a love the the BMW 2002tii sports sedan of which less than 8,000 were imported from 1971 through 1974 (with maybe a few available in 1975). This lovely, practical, and very much fun to drive sedan was the ultimate evolution (at least it's the best we saw on the US shores, except for the very low volume 2002turbo, which is a modified tii) of the legendary BMW 2002. The 2002 is the car that introduced the US market to the BMW name. Previously there were a very few BMW's imported (by Max Hoffman) and they were the very expensive CS Coupe models or the rather gangly 1800 series sedans or the closely related 1600. The 2002tii was more refined than the 1600 series and had larger front brakes, wider wheels, a front and rear stabilizer bar and Kugelfischer PLO-4 mechanical fuel injection to give 140 hp from a 2.0L engine on regular gas. To many people this car is the essence of the BMW automobile.

"tii" stands for "touring international inspritzer" and is correctly written in lower case.

I put over 300,000 miles on my '72 and loved every minute of it.

Do a Google search for "2002tii" to see some well loved examples.
