Subject: Trip REport-brief
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Current thread aside....I just got back from a 1500 mi trip from Salt Lake to no. AZ (sorry I missed you Karl W). I've never been able to see "through" a forest before. It was heartbreaking. Prescott has been scorched. You may have heard: one person was caught by NPS "cops" and was starting his barbecue with a "no fires" sign. S for brains.

I had been hearing my "noisy" alternator for a few months and had the intuition to get one and either replace it then or take it with me on the trip. I wound up driving the last 50 miles into Page, AZ coming back north on my battery with the red dash bat like on. Fiasco getting the right part but it was resolved. Cost me a night in a hotel and an extra $50.00 to have a local mechanic gut the "new" alternator and put those parts in my old alt. housing. The new housing was the wrong one but the guts were corrrect. Anyway, follow your intuition and I'll take my own advice. Other than that the van performed beautifully...a nice cruiser at about 70 mph all the way (except for the hills...big grin) Bob Stevens '91 Westy
