I just ran an outdoor electrical cord through the weekender.  I put
the male plug end behind the license plate and cable tied it so that
it wouldn't get caught in any belts or pulleys.  I use another
extension cord to plug in at a campground.

I had previously removed the A/C, so I had a hole where the hoses
went up to the heat exchanger.  I ran the cord through that and under
the seat.

When I want to plug something in, I pulled it out from under the rear
seat in the cutout under the seat so it wouldn't get squished.

If you don't have a proper hole to run the cable up, I wouldn't pinch
it under the engine cover...too high wear and shock/fire hazard.  You
could cut a small notch to accomodate the cable and line it with
electrical tape to minimize chafing.
