And in a poll, the finding were that  where ethylene glycol wasoriginlly used, the phosphate free stuff caused problems in the cooling system, by allegidly causing leaks.

I know we've heard all kind of stories about this. Let me throw in mine. My 87 GL has over 286,000+ miles on the original heads AND headgaskets. Overheated once due to a broken belt and the driver's (mine) ignorance. Used true blue Autobahn coolant almost all it's life. Same thing on two other Vanagons I used to own. Never had a blown headgasket.


Works for me.
