The twelve point socket heads are called Tri-Square and Its best to go buy the driver if you haven't got one. I use a thin bladed screwdriver to pick out the grease, dirt combination then with the Tri-Square driver in a 1/2" or13mm deep socket on an extension I whack the extension holding the driver/socket combination with a hammer. It normally is enough to break the seize on the bolt and it comes out OK after that. Hope this works so you don't have to drill the heads off.
