Radio waves???

There are three areas of concern: Suppression of interference to the ECU (causing improper operation) arising either inside or outside the vehicle; suppression of internally generated interference to radio reception; and suppression of radio interference to other vehicles/fixed installations.

I really can't get into a discussion of this, but I refer interested parties to pp. 816-821 of the Bosch Automotive Handbook (4th English Ed.) and to the standards DIN 40839 parts 1,3 and 4; and DIN 57879 parts 1,2 and 3 -- or alternatively ISO 7637 -0 /-1 /-2; ISO/DIS 7637-3; ISO/DIS 11451/11452; CISPR 12; CISPR/D 25. And no, I don't have access to any of those standards...

For voluminous discussion of the alternating-current skin effect, do a google on "skin effect"
