Subject: specialty insurance for upgraded 91 westy syncro?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the list, and I'm wondering if any of your might be able to help me. I've just bought a 91 westfalia syncro that has the tiico engine and lots of upgrades. Consequently, the blue book value is a lot less than market value (what I paid for it!), but my insurance company (USAA) says I can't get it insured for any more than trade-in/blue book price. Their "specialty" insurance isn't an option either because the van isn't old enough to qualify (must be 20 years old). I'm getting the van appraised so hopefully I'll soon have documentation that the van is worth more, but I need to find a good insurance company that used "stated value" or some other system for calculating the insurance value. Has anyone else had this problem? Can you recommend a good insurance company that will work with me on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Beth
