Not that I'm an expert, but ...
A couple of years ago I had a couple of estimates done to repaint parts of
another van I had ... sand some rust off the sliding door, touch-ups here
and there. One place gave me a $6000 quote, another, $2000 (both in CAD).
I was surprised at the difference to say the least. When I mentioned this to
the fellow who ended up buying my other car, he said I had to watch out for
the quality of paint used. Like I said, I'm no expert, but this may be a
factor in some of the cheaper work done by body shops.
