Ok thanks I will check the ground straps. I pulled the injectors again
this time watching their spray pattern and leaving key on checking for
leaks just after they have opened....still no sign of leaks.
aaggghhhh... I dont know whats worse having a problem thats obvious, or
having one that solves itself and leaves you no signs of how or why.
anyway..thanks for everyones helpful hints.
I have been driving the last two days after changing my oil and filter
with no apparent problems.
Who knows where to get the best oil pressure gauge kit for my 1990
vanagon?
I really love having a gauge instead of an idiotic light.
Thanks,

p.s. hopefully this engine will hold out till i pay off my loan for
it...then if it goes i will put a subaru flat four in it...and start
paying off that loan.

hello,
I checked the fuel pressure regulator by running the engine for a while
revving it up to 3500-4000rpm shut it off
and then pulling off the vacuum hose and smelling it....not wet and did
not smell like gas....so I think it is ok.
I removed the injectors from the intake and turned key to on position and
did not find and leaks.
I changed my oil...just had it changed a week ago dammit....and put on a
new filter, and everything seems to be running ok...took it for a test
drive about 10miles on the highway. I am guessing that an injector
could have stuck open temporarily, or is leaking intermittently.....I
dont know.
thanks for comments,
