I drove my van with the PS rack disconnected for 1.5 years. Its fine on the highway but not fun intown. Forget parallel parking too. I think teh non-ps rack is geared differently than the ps rack, also ive heard that the steering wheel on the non-PS vans is bigger. Go ahead and disconnect your PS pump, i don't think you'll hurt anything.
