I just put one of these in myself and never bothered with the snaps. The velcro just glues on to the frame around your sliding door (They say you should install it with the door closed.) I had to temporarily take out a few screws for holding the curtains. If you still want to use the snaps once you have the velcro in place just put the screen on and mark wherever the snaps line up.
