The used tranny has the dipstick coming form the case not the pan... Seller claimed that it came from vanagon and had already sold the transaxel, need to determine if it will work before I spend money to rebuild for install. OK the number for the tranny I have is a 010-321-105... the database says it is superseeded by 010 321 101 G. I am sure it is out of the lighter vehivles made before 85. I also understand that late modle 85 and 86-87 used the 087 321 101 B transmission.

My question is... if I put this in my vanagon and use all the hardware off the existion taanny, will it match up and work ? Am I carzy to do this? I need some help. I have lost seconed gear in my transmission. It will only shift directly from first to third. If I put lever in 2nd it doesn't engauge the engine just revs. When on the road and I kick it down, won't go to 2nd just revs.

This all started when I tried to fix my 2nd gear brake leak. (I posted before and got no response)I destroyed the piston, bought a used transmision and used that piston as a temp fix.

To keep short Following Q's.

Would adjsuting the 2nd gear brake do any good or is it shot? Would changing the valve under the throttle body help? What is resaonable cost to rebuild trany already out of van?
