Hi Folks,

I just wanted to pass on a few fotos of my inexpensive idea for sound deadening my 1986 Westy.

I've read a number of recent threads regarding products all of which were a bit pricey for me. Last winter, while remodeling my house I came across some very dense rubber floor padding that seemed like a decent way to help deaden road noise on older Westys with the plastic/fliberglass interiors.

After doing some research, I found that that material is called rubber, waffle and slab padding. I've been told it's hard to come by. It took me a while finally some. I found a fine 10' remnant, and paid $10.00 for it. It's really dense, and seems to absorb sound well. It also offers a nice pad to kneel on when camping.

Here are some fotos:

I was able to cut pieces to cover the engine compartment, rear bench seat, main area and jump seat. I covered the main area with a carpet remnant too. Over all, it has done a fine job at reducing engine and road noise.

p.s. I also bought a 2 drawer VHS movie box at Goodwill for a dollar. I took the drawers out, turned it on its side, and now use it as a map box behind the drives seat.
