Tim, I've been on the Vanagon list for about a year and also on the type2 list for about two years (got booted from type2 for posting a reply to a virus warning). I've been running my Air Cooled Westy going on seven years now and I can't but wonder about the Waser Boxers. I'll be the first to admit that the Air Cooled have problems of low HP, dropping valve seats and the general problems of 20 to 30 year old vehicles. I've had extraordinary good luck with my Air Cooled and 95% of what I've spent on it was just in restoration efforts and not repairs to known problems. I hate to see anybody slip away that has Air Cooled knowledge since there are so few of us on the Vanagon list. In spite of the 95% Waser Boxer content I've helped many of the Air Cooled new owners get things in order with their new purchases. I'm sure you have things to contribute so come back often and visit.
