Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about the outlet
inside the van not working. You are all very helpful and knowledgeable
folks! I messed with the converter thing a little and the plug started
working.  However, when I plugged an extension cord into the outside of
the van, the inside plug doesn't work (without the converter on).   So
now I'm wondering if the outlet is only set up to work with the
converter (thereby working off the battery), or if there might be some
way to switch it over to electricity when I'm parked.  Anyone have one
of these "300w converters" under their sink to hook up the outlet? If
so, do you have a way to switch it to electricity? Anyone know if this
converter is a real drain on the battery?

Larry, I paid $22,000 for my 91 syncro westy w/ a new tiico conversion
engine.  It's in perfect shape-the most beautiful Vanagon I've ever
seen!  Funny story, though, the deal almost didn't go through because
the bank decided last minute that they wouldn't approve the loan (though
they earlier said they would).  Apparently someone made a mistake in
initially approving the loan (too expensive, car too old they said).
Anyway, the let it go pending an appraisal. The appraiser was good and
meticulous, and he appraised the van for $22,000; the loan was approved.
Now, I just have to convince the insurance company that the blue book
value ($10,000) is totally off.
