Patrice,

Before anything else, determine if the leak is through the probes of the level sensor (there will be coolant in the connector well) or at the O-ring seal of the sensor body. You either need a new O-ring or a new O-ring AND a new level sensor. Do not use any sealant with the O-ring. The O-ring is the seal and glopping any kind of sealant on an O-ring only demonstates that the glopper does not know what he is doing. If you do not know how long the sensor has been in service, it would be wise to change even if it is not leaking. The parts are cheap and the sensor will fail eventually.

I would not recommend buying these parts from the Bus Depot because when I tried to get these items from them, they sent me 2 visibly defective sensors and 3 incorrectly sized O-ring. Giving up on that exercise in futility, I found that the local VW dealer would sell me the correct parts and, with a little friendly arm-twisting, he would match the Bus Depot's price without any additional handling charges.

Richie
