Stu,

I also came up with that hose idea back in the early 1990s in Austin Texas, where my Westy A/C just didn't make the grade. It really worked well, as does one other technique. There are two problems with the rear A/C system: distance and resistance.

The Dryer Hose (find a brown one): The hose can be run along in the long brown "shelf" that is behind the driver over the windows (you have to squeeze it in there). I fabricated an adapter so one A/C register passed all its air into the hose.

The bigger problem with Westy A/C is air flow resistance. The rear register design limits the ability of the blower to move air. If you remove the whole plastic panel that contains the registers (4 screws), that fan shoots volumes of air right up front. This works the best! The down side is fan noise, which increases quite a bit.
