Subject: Timing my 86 Westy 2.1
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi all, I posted a few days ago pleading for help setting the timing on my Westy. I bought a nice timing light and attempted it... I did exactly as the Bently says note the advance with Temp 2 unpluged at 2500rpm. then increase to 3000rpm plug temp 2 sensor back in and record the advance value. The manuel says that the 3000rpm minus the 2500rpm must be 35 + or - 5 degrees btdc. I got mine set at 39 degrees. It comes out to 10 degrees at and idle of 900rpm. Is this fine? The van drives GREAT!!! LOADS of power!!! But I want to make sure I'm not doing damage! I don't thing I hear a ping, but the exhaust is half shot so it's prettty loud. Again, I'd appreciate any words of wisdom! I hope to hear your thoughts soon.

:-)
