Happened to be at Monterey Historic Automobile Races some years ago when MB was the featured marque. Phil Hill drove two famous ones. The W195 GP car, and the 300SLR. The sound and the fury. A 1965 Corvette Gran Sport made an appearance, raced against Alfa T33, Porsche 916/917, Porsche 908. Zora's legacy fared pretty well.

My old friend Dick Toepfer, bought a 1955 300SL with Rudge wheels, fitted luggage, in Polaris Silver for 12000USD in 1971. We thought he was totally nuts. Price it today...scary.

1976 930 Porsche, sold for 15000, Waaay overpriced, we thought at the time. In graduate school, my neighbor, David Willis, had a restored FIA 550 Spyder in his garage. The day before I280 opened to the public he took a midnight ride. You could hear it from Palo Alto.

The real jewel is the legendary Spagthorpe Whippet. Not too many of those around. Or Jowett Jupiter, just for you, Tim.

renault R5T, Renault Alpine, SIATA, Osca, Jensen Interceptor, ISO Grifo, ISO Rivolta. All desirable and at one time long ago affordable.

No more, now we have to be satisfied with Pontiac Goats for 30K$, matching number 1965 327/375 FI Corvettes in ratty to poor shape for 25k$.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like an old banana.
