Subject: head leaks- any stopgap measures?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed

Listees: Both our new 90 and 91 Vanagons have slight head leaks (actually the right side only on each one). I've had these motors apart before and it's not my all time favorite engine job. Also, I'm of the belief that ANY fix is a pretty short term fix. Hell, when new, the 87's started leaking within 2 or 3 years of being sold. Or have they come up with better antifreeze since then? Has anyone out there had any experience with stop gap measures, such as scraping the corrosion off the leaking area and sealing up with RTV silicone gasket cement or something similar? P-mail me please! Al Brase Vanagon train
