The only special tool required for replacing tie rod ends and most front end work is a pickel fork or ball joint seperator. I got a pickel fork at my local harbor freight for $3. Also be informed that the only alignment adjustment that is changed when changing the tie rod ends is the tow in and this is easy to check yourself. If there is interest Ill try to write up a how-to for checking the tow in.

Does anyone who has replaced thier tie rod ends recently on a PS rack have a tip for unscrewing the tie rod end from teh shaft that comes out of the PS rack. The shaft has a grooved section for a box wrench but that slipped easily so i tried a pipe wrench but i still could not get it loose! Any suggestions? Rack is installed.

Thanks, Andrew Fox 86' Westy "The Lemon" (on its 3rd PS rack!, 3rd engine, and 2nd tranny)
