Tobin, when I ran the oil pressure wire for my 85 I ran along the left side as you did. When I got to the front I pulled both grilles and was able to fish the wire up behind the dash. Behind the dash, I was able to pop the wire through a rubber grommet with a bunch of other wires, and get to it from under the dash. The fact that it was red really helped. It might help to start some wire through from under the dash and see where it falls. Keep going, you'll find the way. If you completely run out of options, drop the spare and put it through with the coolant hoses.
