Here's my take on this issue, as I am a professional webmaster.
Unless Ben (mon ami!) says so with full knowledge of the implications - I
think he should keep his site separate and run it his way.
It is his incredible personal initiative and drive that made his site so
good.
OK, but what's wrong with incorporating it into Vanagon.com?
If that happens, the site essentially becomes a list property, and is
subject to endless criticism and debate.
I manage a web site that's got similar issues - and I am telling you, and
please believe me, it is very hard on the emotions of the person (me) who's
put some much energy and effort into creating it. And, after a while, you
just get tired of the battles.
As has been said so often, "Too many cooks spoil the broth". Truer words
have never been spoken when it comes to web sites.
Ben, you have done a great job building the site your way.
Please - never accept anybody's suggestion, however well-intentioned, that
you merge your site and content with another one.
