I learned tonight the hard way that when replacing a head you should install the alternator before reinstalling the intake pipes! After about two hours, and with the help of my daughter, who has smaller hands than I, we managed to get that *(%&$* lower bolt into place and secured. After tensioning the belt, I began making the electrical connections. At this point, I realized that the little green wire that runs from the alternator to a plug mounted on the back of the power steering pump had broken off. Rats! Can anyone tell me what this little beauty does and where it attaches to the alternator? I'm afraid I'll have to dismount it once again to effect repairs. :o( I checked the Bentley, but didn't find it of much help. Thanks in advance. Dave in KC 85 Vanagon/Westy Multivan |
