I'd imagine that it would be able to tow it on the flat, but it would be a struggle to pull off from traffic lights and would be working hard to maintain highway speeds. Hills....I'd be carefull. I can imagine my diesel vanagon towing something heavy like this up a hill, slowing down, then having the weight of the trailer pulling it back down the hill again! I'd be careful. I think the vanagon is only rated to pull 1000 lbs max. As a person who is always noodling around ideas, I'm currently curious if anyone tows a whole car with their Vanagon? Aside from the lack of power, how well does a Vanagon tow something like a Miata (i.e. reasonably light)? What kind of hitch are you using? Can it handle towing the car and also being full of cargo? Thanks! Chris |
