Maybe I wasn't very clear in my first response. I said "'84 and up", but
I should have said "'84-'93", to indicate 2 things:
1. I didn't look at the A3-based cabbies, since you indicated they
weren't included, and
2. Of course I looked at the model years you indicated.
Anyway, since I've taken you to task over clarity once before, my
apologies for leading you to believe I hadn't checked out the model
years you indicated. In fact, I checked EVERY SINGLE cabby model year in
ETKA, from 1980-2001, just to see what was what. The adapter part number
I mentioned before shows up in 1984, and is present until and including
1993, the last year for A1-chassis-based cabbies. There's nothing like
it in the '95 and up cabbies; in fact, ETKA won't even give you the part
number for the manual window crank for those years.
Now, the way ETKA sometimes works is, if a part that was only available
on a certain model, like '91-'93 cabbies, will physically fit (can be
retrofitted) to earlier models, then sometimes that later part will be
in earlier model diagrams and lists. It's also possible that for some
reason, this specific window crank adapter has been available on cabbies
since 1984, and either wasn't used on most cars, or we've just never
noticed. I think the former possibility is more likely.
Anyway, if someone hits a junkyard this weekend, would you keep an eye
out for cabbies and if you find one of these adapters (better you should
find TWO, you lucky dog), could you post the part number here, before
you install? Thanks.
