Depending on what year the 5KQ is it will more than likely NOT work with out a lot of trouble shooting. If it is the 168hp 'MC' engine from 86 or later it certainly won't work. The SA bell housing for the 5 cylinder doesn't have the timing sensor hole in it so the engine management for the 2.2T motor won't function. You could back date the 2.2T to the earlier FI systems but that will involve a lot of Mickey mousing. I would go with a 1.8T from a Passat or A4 instead.

I was preparing to buy a Tiico engine and my friend said he would give me his Audi 5000 Tubro that is sitting behind his house. The engine has 150k on it, After sitting 5 months it starts up instanty. Would I be stupid to put this engine in my Syncro or stupid not to? Last where can I get an adapter plate for this conversion? Thanks Andre Richmond Va. 90 syncro westy
