I changed from the Diesel tank to the later style and didn't like losing the big filler opening. So, I first broke the spring and flap out. Then I cut out as much of the metal as I could with a metal snips. The rest I flattened by pounding it with a sledge hammer and large metal bar.

I am installing a 1.9L AAZ Turbo Diesel for a customer and the project is going along quite good. A picture can be seen at the the gallery section of my web site.

The conversion is almost done, but I have one question that I can't seem to figure out at this moment. How do you get the restrictor out of the fuel filler for the unleaded fuel pump nozzle? The Diesel nozzles in the USA are larger than the gasoline ones and it will not fit (not a problem here in Canada unless you go to the truck stops). It looks as though the restrictor will just pop out of there IF I can get the darn end of the filler neck for the fuel tank.

Suggestions anyone?
