Chris - This is my understanding of the requirements to import a vehicle less than 25 years old from Canada:

- Bill of sale - Proof of ownership (previous registration/title) - Recall statement - Certificate of conformity - Receipt from a mechanic documenting correction of any exceptions noted on the certificate of conformity - DOT form HS-7 - US Customs form 3299 - EPA form 3520-1 (may be required - not sure)

To register legally in my state, in addition to having the forms listed above stamped by customs, I would need to get a VIN inspection form completed by the town clerk or a state trooper. In Maine, vehicles older than 15 years are not required to be titled and no emissions inspections are performed, but I would suspect other states might have regulations regarding these items. Definitely check with your state's motor vehicle department to determine exactly what they will require.
