I am one happy camper that I didn't attend the Bethany show. Torrential rains and winds gusting 70 mph blasted through Dallas at about 10:30 Saturday night. I sat watching the same thunderstorm on the weather channel as it was passing through OK City and the North / South thunderstorm line. I survived a Tornado sitting in the Ramada in right near the Bethany road off 39th Expressway (old Rt. 66). The same Tornado pretty much leveled Mustang OK about 30 miles West of OK City. The following month I survived another Tornado on July 11th, 1969 in Lubbock Texas that took the top floor (I mean the top floor not just the roof) off the Ramada Inn I was staying in. I've only had about three occasions in my Westy that I had to drop the Pop-Top because of heavy winds and rains but it sure sounds like last nights storms in OK City area would have been another one. I'm hoping to make some other VW events within 300 mile radius of Dallas TX but I don't regret missing the Bethany show since I'd have been spending the night nearby.
