I have used my Bissell "Little Green Machine" with excellent results on several cars, including my '85 Vanagon. It is amazing what that machine will pull out uf the seats and carpet.

Jeff,

Here's an endorsement of sorts. I have taken totally filthy crappy Vanagon seats from 82-91. Taken them to the local self serve carwash. Blasted them with whatever detergent they use there. Sat them out to dry for 24 hours outside and presto. They look new. I didn't pay attention to any upholstery cleaning codes. I've done this a half dozen times without any noticeable consequences.
