Hi all, 

I used to be a member of this list some years back, and have just temporarily rejoined.  I remember with fondness a good bunch of people with a great knowledge of VW's and an unhealthy dose of obsession. I hope to see the names of some of the people that I remember.  I found the list quite helpful and entertaining. I especially enjoyed hear of the exploits of others and their beloved Westies.  

After having my van laid up for the past two and a half years, I've decided to get her back on the road.  I've already sorted out most of the problems, but now I find myself in need of a pair of rear backing plates.  Mine are absolutely shot (I can see my shoes through them).  So, here's the thing, I'm pretty sure there are no after-market manufacturers for these, and my local VW Stealership wants over $100.00 each for them.  

long post short, Anybody have a pair of used backing plates for a Vanagon?   I'm really in a jam here, as its the last thing that's keeping me from getting it licenced.  Also, I'm looking for an exterior sliding door handle, mine was removed by somebody with a hockey stick.  

Thanks to anyone who replies, I'll be staying on the list only for a day or two, as I'm using my work email, and I'm sure they'll become quite contrary about the sudden increase in the volume of mail.
