I don't mean re-covering, I mean recovering. If you happen to get years of built up body oils and great masses of coffee and soda pop on your seats, this is what you do. Take the seats out of the van. spray them down with oven cleaner, scrub them with a stiff brush, add more oven cleaner, scrub them some more. Hose them down with a good high pressure garden hose nozzle. Turn the seats several times while drying them in the sun. This do or die cleaning process will resurrect the most foul smelling and looking seats that you've ever seen in a wrecking yard. (I did it) This procedure removes the gray haze and brings back the colors very good. You can add scotch guard if you like after they dry. It doesn't repair rips and holes, just cleans the dickens out of what you have left to work with.
