original message: Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the quantity of air that = can be sucked into the 2.1L WBX engine? I am using the K&N filter in the = stock box. I am looking for an inexpensive way to increase the flow down = ------------ reply ----------- This topic comes up now and then on this list. In my opinion, I submit that the stock air intake system on the Vanagon, and probably most other vehicles, is more than adequate for the stock engine. If your heads are stock and your exhaust is stock, I'm sure that opening up the intake will make no difference in performance or mileage. Just remove the air cleaner box or whatever else you think is restrictive and drive around the block. Don't mistake more noise for increased power. I've never done it, but someone should put the stock air intake system on a flow bench. If it's like most other production vehicles it is more than adequate. Additionally, flow would only become restrictive at high RPMs, near redline. Not an issue for everyday driving. Gary |
