Hi, Since Tom's 84 I assume does not have a tach to let him know his hall sender is working, I was thinking an inductive type timing light (the type that clamps over the spark plug wire) would at least let him know he's getting spark. On the models with the tach, the tach will twitch during cranking letting you know your hall sender is working.
