Stan has a good point about not mixing brands of heads or heads that are not
rebuilt in pairs.
this applies to heads of different castings, alloys and possibly different
combustion chamber sizes. This can make one head run hotter than the other.
water cooled engine have less of a wild swing in head temps than air cooled
but the same problems apply. the test will be is there a difference in
compression from side to side. unless its 20 pds or more don't worry.
read the valve adjustment article on my web page to be sure you have the
valves closing all the way
I have stopped rebuilding OEM wbx heads over 2 years ago because it JUST
DON'T WORK
shameless plug # 1
I do still rebuild AMC heads when I can find cores and I do have a couple of
sets for sale at this point the price is $650 and $ 800 for new
This is the part where I rant with attitude
when you shop for price you get the cheapest part and how important is that
when you are sitting at the side of the road. People that do this often know
the price of everything and the value of nothing
Do the job right the first time and if you don't know what that means find
someone that does and
spend your money with them.
I not pointing my finger at Stephen with my comments but not a day goes by
when somebody that has spent there money someplace else wants me to solve
there problem on the phone. As my old pal Gene Berg was fond of saying
what's in it for me to do tech support for someone else's product I as
always will do what I can as time allows
rant off
