Adam, Good numbers! My results on the inline 4 with diesel pan and sound shield are very similar ... 35 to 50 F. I have also found reductions in cylinder head temperatures, but I can't recall the numbers. I put it in the archives at the time. Yes (for the nonbelievers) cylinder head temperatures follow oil temperatures even in water-cooled engines (just not so large a delta). I also agree that the oil cooler is one of the best lifetime and reliability mods that can be made to these vehicles - even more important for the air cooled culture! BTW, I am using the RX7 cooler now, but am switching to the Audi 5000T oil cooler(s) for the turbocharged Audi. I have also mounted the oil cooler (RX7) above the trans with muffin tin fan cooling. But for the Audi install, I'm going to mount the Audi coolers with puller fan underneath the right rear battery area. Opening to access air from the side vent. Frank Grunthaner |
