Get a mechanic's remote starting switch (buy the mechanic's if you have to) or make one -- spring-loaded heavy SPST switch (N-O) with a couple of longish clip leads. The proper ones have a handle of some sort with a big pushbutton. For extra refinement/security you could replace one clip with a female 1/4" Fast-On lug (like the others on the van).

Reach forward over the top of the transmission, then feel to the right -- you should feel the control wire plugged into the starter, and also a spare lug either above or below the control wire. Clip one lead of the switch to that. Then clip the other lead to the B+ terminal on the alternator, secure the wires away from belts, and run the wire under the edge of the engine cover (after testing of course).

Make darn sure the thing's not in gear when you start it.
