Jim, Check your chemistry book. You are right about the overheating only. Water has a higher thermocapacity than most liquids therfore it is able to carry more heat away from the engine but the freezing point of water is much higher than the glycol. A glycol solution is liquid down to 70 below zero. Wine will freeze at 40 below but a good glass of scotch is still a good glass of scotch. bottoms up gary Subject: Re: coolant? Will overheat in the summer and freeze in the winter. A 50% blend gives 'maximum protection' both for hot and for cold. If the manufacturers thought that they could get away with selling a product that was "preblended" you can bet they would. For the same price as the "unblended" product. ("New! Improved! Easy to Use!!!")
