Subject: Stranded Near Harrisburg (need mechanic referral)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Hey Folks...

I am in Denver PA right now and I need to find a good mechanic within the range of my AAA membership (100 miles tow).

Today, 609 miles into a trip to NYC from Louisville in my (85GL 144K), she made an interesting noise, continued to make the noize as she lost power, and died as soon as I engaged the clutch. I was 30 miles east of Harrisburg PA on I-76.

All the usual stuff was checked... hoses, belts, big black wires, fuses, etc... The starter clicks, but the engine doesn't spin at all. But, we had been pushing it and letting the clutch out to see if the thing has seized, finding that the engine would turn a little and just STOP. Theres a stick in the spokes somewhere here!

I could be wrong, but it seems that something has gone wrong deep in the crankcase, preventing the whole shebang from revolving.

The tow truck took 3 hours to show, and by that time it was 8PM on friday, so he just towed me to a hotel in Denver and I am trying to sort this out, as I probably wont be able to even talk to a mechanic until Monday. Im gonna be a little late getting to NYC, but hopefully in the meantime I can get the word on a good mechanic from the list!

I don't think AAA will keep towing me all over the place so please recommend professionals who can finish the job, even if that means a new engine, or splitting the crankcase and getting into all that!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Jason Loewenstein.

Please reply privately as well, I get the list in digest form!!!
