My '85 was sagging as well due to old age and spring design.  At first I
installed some Syncro rear springs.  That raised my rear from 16.5'',
measured from center of hubcap to edge of wheel opening, to 19''.  My Westy
is a 'weekender' without the heavy fridge and other stuff, so the springs
were much too stiff around town.  On the highway and loaded they performed
admirably and increased the stability of my Westy.  Then I made some spacers
and re-installed my stock rear springs.  Now the rear measurement is 18.5''
and the ride is nice.  It does sway more in the turns, but it doesn't jounce
like it did with the Syncro springs.
