I've been following a Subaru into Air Cooled 81 Westy conversion that is being done locally in Dallas by David Nix and his son. He purchased a kit and adapters from various sources as recommended by Internet sources and has the engine and electrical completed. I secured all (almost all) of the Waser Boxer plumbing from a donor 1985 Vanagon. The installation is going sooth and looks to be a very practical route to take. David is an intelligent fellow with limited mechanical skills but between he and his son they've done a by the book conversion. This isn't something that I'd consider since I think there is some value in having an original vehicle vs any conversion or odd ball vehicle. I'm going to be very interested in seeing his Satisfaction Level once the vehicle is back on the road.
