Listees: I am ready to reinstall my engine back into my 1987 Westy. However, yesterday in catching up on my list mail, I remember seeing Stan W. post with an admonition about not using heads from different manufacturers on the engine. I thought, "Crap! I think my heads are that way." On the way to work I stopped off at the garage and checked again... Yep, I have one VW and one after-market head, both of which have been rebuilt and resurfaced before being put back on the engine.

I apologize for not just p-mailing Stan but I am at work and don't have access to my real mail box(using POP remote). Does this advise only apply to air cooled engines or is it universally applicable?

Any help posted ASAP would be appreciated as I was planning on doing the install tommorrow after I get off work.

TIA Stephen Chillicothe OH
