I have been asked by a couple of people how much the Boge springs lower the van. On my Westy, they lowered it by somewhat under 1-1/2 inches (versus the 3" drop that Todd reported on his Westy using the H&R springs). The manufacturer's spec is a 1-3/4" drop. As for why the real-world drop I measured was less than that, remember that this 1-3/4" spec is compared to a brand new set of stock springs, whereas I'm comparing them to my used springs. I would imagine that after 12 years and 100k miles, my Westy already sat a bit lower than it did when it left the factory. Also, VW made several springs for the Vanagon, and Boge's spec does not say which OEM ones it's comparing them to. So anyway, in my personal experience, a bit under 1-1/2".

Also, the Boge springs did not give my van a noticably forward rake, as the H&R's apparantly do. They lowered it roughly the same front and rear.

Finally, the Boge springs are specifically labeled by the manufacturer as being rated for VW Campers (even though, like the H&R's, the coils are a bit thinner than on the stock Westy springs I removed).
